Gables keep forgetting siding material

I start with a basic rectangle house with a gable roof. My gable walls look fine. But as I add other elements (e.g. a vestibule on a non-gable wall), suddenly the gables lose their siding material. Even if I delete the added elements, the gables stay the wrong color.

If you built your walls counter-clockwise, instead of clockwise, then the siding will display on the inside.

Even if you change this on the exterior, attic walls (the triangle wall part under the gable but above the main wall) get rebuilt every time you rebuild the roof (which is checked on automatically at least in my version).
