Room Over Garage

I know I've asked this already, but I am still having an incredible amount of difficulty accomplishing it in HD Suite 8.0.

I am trying to create a "bonus room" on top of my garage. I am trying to create a room that isn't as tall as the other rooms I guess. I want to have 5' walls as the exterior walls and then slightly inside of those walls, full 8' walls. I just can't get this to work correctly.

If anyone could provide some detailed instructions or tips I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I think basic geometry is working against you here. The outermost placement of your 8' walls is dictated by your exterior walls and roof pitch (and roof type, come to think of it...).

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have a complex bonus room over a garage or something similar that they might be able to send so that I can see how it's done? I have been following the tutorials and everyone's input and just can't get things to work correctly and thought maybe if I saw an actual design that worked, I could work backwards and learn to do it correctly.

Look in help and check out gambrel type roofs and see if thats what you want,

Because of how the roof needs to be built, I don't think that you could really work backward if someone sent you a file?
