HD Suite 9 does not import dxf or dwg data at all.

You can import 3D symbol data ("File - Import - Import 3D Symbol") in ".obj, .3ds and .skp" file formats.

Ready to hand plumbing symbols are located in the Library Browser and these are programmed to show in plan views (2D) and in camera views (3D).

I am sorry I cannot help with what you want to do, I can only tell you the limitations you have.

Actually, Kohler stuff can be imported into Suite (version 8 and newer) and Architectural Home Designer as well, since most of their stuff is up on Google's free 3D Warehouse in the .skp file format - http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...19116839389907

That is true. However, when I import a sink, for example, and put it in a cabinet the counter top extends through the sink.

You also have to set the height manually (not that big a deal), but it doesn't seem to understand that the counter top does not extend through the sink.

I suspect this has something to do with the way the Kohler model was created. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

Symbol specification (inserts into counter top) is only available in the chief architect program.

You can group (and resize) cabinets in such a way as to create
    a hole for your sink.

Sketchup objects don't have the programed "intelligence" of
CA objects (which is basically what Dean was referring to).

You'll run into the same problem with Sketchup
    doors and windows, etc.

In Architectural Home Designer, and Home Designer Pro, you can use the Custom Countertop tool and edit it to create an opening in which to place the sink, but in Suite, Doug's posted the best option with using multiple cabinets.

    Placing Kohler Sink DXF

I have downloaded a Kohler sink 3D from their site (dxf file) and am trying to drop it into my sink base cabinet. It is showing up but the countertop is running thru it - is there a way to make the counter cut-out around the sink? I have tried making the sink higher and that does not help. Anyone offer some advice?

Andrea-w - Since you have Pro, you can convert the countertop for your base cabinets in to a Custom Countertop and shape it around the sink.
