installation
Hello all,
I am a new user ( or hope to be ) of Home Designer 8.0. I am having a problem with the program, when I try to open a new file or wizard it restarts my computer. I will be glad to go into detail on this problem as I have tried various computer adjustments and installations. I have been in communication with support.
All assistance will gladly be received

Have you restarted the computer successfully on your own?
Does the computer meet the system requirements for running the program?
What's the operating system?
Have you updated your drivers, such as those for your video card?
How are you trying to open the file, are you double clicking on it, or browsing to it using the File> Open menu?
Do you have administrative rights on the login you are using to get into Windows?
I haven't seen anyone previously post about the computer actually restarting as an issue, might be a more serious problem with your computer?

Hello Kat,
Thanks for the quick reply. Ok here goes:
I have: C2825 Emachine 2800+ 2.08 ghz processor
ATI rage pro 2800 video card with 16 meg
Two 512 mb ddr 333 mhz ram
I believe hardware wise I qualify,
XP operating system with S/P 3 and all updated.
Video card drivers updated.
Firewall exceptions initiated.
Un install performed with Add remove program and manual delete from program files, ( full program was still on my computer ), complete search of any remaining files and deleted them, reinstalled with all requests of the url that you have shown, along with turning off spyware doctor antivirus and reg mechanic software.
Re installed and activated all turned off programs. Now it starts to open a file but either locks up or restarts the computer.
Thanks again
