    David,

In the 3D picture, the hallway wall butts up against the stair railing wall, and the red door is hinged to the far left of the railing wall. My desire was to move it left a foot or two, so that it is hinged on the hallway wall, against the wall that is shared by the stove/microwave (so that the door would be to the far left of the under-stair opening available for the closet). HD wouldn't let me use the 'combine walls' feature to combine the hallway wall with the stair railing wall, and it won't allow me to slide the door 'upwards' in the 2D view (you can just make out a break between walls just above the door hinge in the 2D view).

I hadn't considered how I was going to hold up the stairs in real life, and maybe that's why HD won't let me position the door over the 'joint' between the two walls. But, assuming I use a cantilevered support (or some other real-life workaround) to hold up the stairs, is there some way to do what I'm trying to do?

    Great post on reading/learning BTW.
