    Columns and Arches

I am a new user of HD Suite 7.0 and am having an issue with arches and columns. I have attached a couple of photos of what I am trying to achieve. Not exactly sure of how to go about it. I have tried a couple of ways with soffits and cabinets, but no real success. The problems that I am having is that we have a vaulted ceiling and I cant get the wall above the arch to go to the ceiling. I cant figure out how to do an arch without there being wall directly below the ends of the arch.

    Thanks

If I understand correctly, you have posted examples of what you would like to do. Can you post an example of what you are actually getting?

I have run into a few different issues as I try different solutions but the main obstacle seems to be getting the wall above the arch to go to the ceiling. see photo

Not sure why you went with a PDF. An attached image file like you used earlier is a lot easier to deal with than a PDF for most people. I know it is for me.

Anyway, I don't quite know what to make of what you are getting. Is that arch part of an unconnected wall? If so, that could be the problem. Walls must always connect to another wall, even if it is an invisible wall, and there can be no isolated unconnected wall(s) within any structure. If there are, the program generates weirdness.

Sorry, I just figured out how to export to jpg from the 3D view. Attached is how far I can get. What I need to know is how to create an "empty space" on each side of the column and to wood cap the top of the half wall.

You could use another opening like a doorway one either side to accomplish this. There are some really nice tools in Chief Architect Full version that allow much more detail but you should be able to get close.

I believe it can be done with time..
I used a door,windows..No casings..I should have tried blocking them...Use the ctrl drag to place the colums..
I'd like to see what you come up with..
I didn't spend to much time on this to get it perfect..

    Wink

Allen - Brilliant!! I pretty much got it. See attachment. Certainly good enough for my purposes. Kind of a little funny outline of the arch. How did you get the wood capped effect on the bottom part of the window? Thanks again for the suggestion!

    Your welcome
    Looks good
You can add slap to the top of it..You just have to learn the tools a little better..
This is easier in Chief, but a lot more money..Just depends on your needs..

Thought I'd give it a try, too. I used doorways only.

I tried the doorways idea too and that worked as well. Can anyone tell me why my arch doorway appears to have an invisible strip on each side? see all of my arch photos - I uploaded one with darker walls to see it better. Tried playing around with some of the settings but no luck.

Allen I think said he did his in pro. Does anyone have Deluxe that they could try it in?
