Material Painter

Hi, new to the program and not familiar with it at all. Having a few issues. I used the material painter for a wall and now I am stuck in material painter mode. When I try to place a rug in a room, I have the spray can and it paints the rug over the entire floor. How do I get out of the spray can mode? Thank you.

You are in material painter mode because you have selected a rug material from the library. Clicking on the floor paints the floor with the rug material. If you want to have an area rug on your floor, you need to have a rug object first. There are rug objects in the library that you can use or you can place a thin soffit on the floor and paint the rug material on it.
