Exterior/Interior wall intersection

I am looking for some help with wall intersection problem I have. When I draw an interior wall connecting to an exterior wall the interior wall goes right through the exterior wall. How can I get it just to draw from the inside stud line of the exterior wall?

You have your "Main Layer" of the exterior wall set wrong (it is a radio button in the Wall Dialog - Define Wall type dialog setting), Walls will thereafter attach to whatever wall layer you designate as the "main" layer (structural or load-bearing layer).

Properly designate the structural layer as the "main" and then your goofy results will return to normal.
