Drawing screen walls and door for Porch

    Good Morning -

Bob here using HD Pro 2012 on a PC Xp platform.

I have been searching for the best way to draw a screened in porch w/o to much luck - probably me and I just missed it.

Regardless, I want to draw screen panels into a porch area. From what I did read I drew the room with invisible walls and designated the room a "court." There are two attachments that show the ortho view and plan view of the area I want to screen in. Also desire a screen door on one wall of porch. Thanks for any help.

    Bob

    Adding a screen porch

I have gone through the screen porch articles and they will help with the windows. Right now, I have two issues (see the attached JPEG image).
    1. Using the article in the database, I followed the instructions for a gable roof. This didn't quite work out as you can see.
    2. The porch is to be 10" off the terrain with the outside frame members supported by PT Posts set on concrete footings. If we followed the logic of the actual construction, we would build the footers, specifying the height of the footers and then add the porch framing members. I cannot figure out how to do that either automatically with Pro or manually.
Would appreciate some guidance to this rookie. cheers, bill.

    Bill,

    1. Creating a gable wall anywhere you want one is covered under "Gable" in your "Build Roofs Dialog - Roof Styles - Gable" section, automatically speaking, if your wall dialog box settings are correct you get one, if they are not, you don't. It is simple but also totally unforgiving.

    2. Auto deck framing only works in the presence of a terrain plane, yours seems to be missing.

David, thank you. I quickly realized the terrain issue after I posted the questions. I did the roof over the porch as a stand-along model. The Gable roofing works just fine.

Kat - I also appreciate some earlier advice you gave someone about how to create a "slab" patio. Still learning and appreciate all of your inputs. cheers, bill.
