Wall Height Changes with Interior Walls

For some reason the wall height in my basement keeps changing if I connect certain walls. I kind of figured out that it'll happen if the walls overlap but there's got to be an easier way. I'm using Home Designer Pro 2012

This is most likely due to the ceiling heights you are setting in the basement are different from the ceiling heights already set in "Edit - Default Settings - Floor" when you created the foundation level (part of the process of creating a new floor is you are presented with a "Floor Defaults" dialog right after you order that floor's creation. If you did not set the ceiling height to what you wanted at that time the software can be continually counted upon to try to reset changes you make to whatever the "Default Ceiling Height" has been set to in Defaults (by accident or otherwise) for that floor, always.
That is what is happening and the cause is your not knowing the importance of that setting, how the software is designed to work and nothing more. We all have made that same error, invariably and suffered its consequences.
