Some or all of these video tutorials ( http://www.youtube.com/user/c16467/videos?query=layout )will help you. In Chief Architect/Home Designer the "view ports" are there but are programmed differently when sending views to the layout (the .plan file is like "model space" and the .layout file is for "paper space" in terms of similarity of function, just different programming solutions and nomenclature).
