    Outbuidling Help

I have my house totally completed with landscaping and countours. I now am trying to add a 30'x24' outbuilding separate from the house. After I draw in the exterior walls and interior walls, I try to add a foundation using the "Floor Tools" parent button but the "Build Foundation" child button can not be clicked (i.e., it is transparent/faded into the tool bar). Also, it seems like my foundation-less out building is related to the main house as it is hovering in mid-air at the same elevation as the house's first floor. How can create this separate building and add a foundation? I am using Home Designer Suite version 7.0. Thanks!

This You Tube video should help to get you up and running where you have two buildings and differing floor heights in the same plan file:

Great! That fixed the elevation issue. One more item - If I try to add a second floor to the outbuilding, the program adds a second floor to my 1-story house as well. Also, I can't add a foundation to the outbuilding (the foundation child button is not clickable) since I think I already have the foundation to the house. Is there any way to disassociate or "separate" the two buildings so that I can add unique traits to each?

That is the way the software works, it is then up to you to not use the default offering and create a black second floor which you then draw in manually where you intend to have an actual second floor.

Once your buildings are properly set up rebuilding foundations should work but only if you have your buildings exactly where and as you want them first.
