Question How to adjust wall thickness?

    Hi,

is there any chance to draw wall thicker than 300mm?
Where I come (Central Europe) the exterior walls have usually more than 300mm (380 or 440 mm)

Home Designer 6 Suite does not allow for the editing of wall layers. This limitation is by design for this version of the software. While you cannot edit the layers, you can use the Wood Frame wall type to set a thickness of whatever you like in the Wall Specification dialog, on the General tab.

Home Designer 6 Pro does offer the ability to edit the layers of existing wall types, allowing you to create your own custom wall configurations.

    Hi Martin --

If you're doing professional or semi-professional work, make sure to look at the features of Home Designer Pro or Chief Architect (www.chiefarchitect.com) -- both have fully customizable wall layers, as well as a wide range of other professional-grade tools such as Chief has layer management, multi page layouts, photo realistic ray-tracing, etc.

    Thanks.

While the brick cavity wall is a common wall type, the one we have included is not the exact wall type you desire. As you stated yourself this has changed just this year.

PRO 7 will allow you to create a custom wall type that will give you the exact layer control to produce the layered wall type you are after. The thickness function only applies to the wood frame wall and is grayed out in all our products when you have a layered wall type selected.

What we have found as we have expanded into various markets around the world is that there are litterally unlimited vairiations in construction tecniques and wall types.

Use the wall type called "Wood Frame 16" OC" and then you can set the thickness.

    wall thickness

Im using designer suite 9 I set my walls under default to adjustable
thickness but can only change the thickness after walls are drawn
Is there a way to open all walls at once so I dont have to retype the
    thickness for each wall

Depending on the width of the wall, you might be able to set that in the Defaults.
