Tony, just guessing but looking at your photo's, (see my screen shot) you probably selected the porch edge (what would be the line of the columns see 2) and set the pitch on that porch roof overhang, correct; but did you select the exterior wall (see 1) and check full gable for that wall? Have you tried that?
