Having trouble with my wrap around porch roof

My name is Tony, I just upgraded to Home Designer Architectural 2014. I'm a newer user of the product. I have been battling 2 roof issues for the last year. I will concentrate on the first issue.
I am trying to recreate my new home. These photos show my house in real life along with my HD progress. My roof is a 6-12 pitch with a 3-12 pitch above the wrap around porch. I currently have my wrap around porch running along the front and a little around the left side of the house. I am looking to model my home with a full wrap around porch. I cant get my roof on the left side of the porch to run into the full gable of the house, it keeps running the 3-12 pitch like a hip roof. Any suggestions?

Tony, just guessing but looking at your photo's, (see my screen shot) you probably selected the porch edge (what would be the line of the columns see 2) and set the pitch on that porch roof overhang, correct; but did you select the exterior wall (see 1) and check full gable for that wall? Have you tried that?

I set the brick wall to full gable already, is that what you're asking?

Thanks for looking into this, by the way.

Use the wall break tool on your porch rail to give cues to the software. Also, on the rail segments where you want shed/gable ends, then they need to be marked as such (Not Full Gable). Your porch roof is set solely on the railing not on the house walls.

If you post your plan to SkyDrive or DropBox then I'm sure someone can look and give guidance.

That would be great jcaffe, I have a skydrive account, but not too savvy with it. Could you give me a little more direction on how to get it out there?

    Thanks

    Did this work?

If so, can you tell me why there are gaps between the roof and brick? And there's a big gap in the garage bricks I can see thru on the garage full gable next to the porch.

    Thanks

I looked over your plan but just from the two photos, I cannot tell (only guess) what the side of the house's roofs are supposed to look like (be), With Architectural, if the settings are not perfect for each wall and by perfect, I mean the actual roof pitches MUST be known and entered (guesses leave things to chance and luck).
I was able to get it closer but to get it right one would have to know the exact roof pitches and distances between pitch changes to make things right. Thank you for posting your plan and the photos, it is just insufficient data to make things right.

I have my blueprints, so I have any dimensions I should need (I assume). Are you referring to the baseline dimension between the 6-12 upper pitch and 3-12 lower pitch above the front porch? I just put the blueprint on the skydrive link too.

So I worked on this porch last night and all morning today, I have gotten nowhere. I rendered these up without the roof on the side of the house. This is exactly right except for the missing roof that should be connecting the front porch roof and the back porch roof on a 3-12 pitch on the left side of the house

Then, as I was looking at those, I noticed my roof was floating (below) above the house. Are these issues related? If not, I'll cross that bridge later.

I am sorry that you have spent so much time to date without satisfaction. What I mean is inputting the precise data from the blueprints in the precise areas of the software to achieve your desired results. I haven't the time (right now) to make a video but I will this evening. In the mean time, if you could also provide the roof pitches called out in your blueprints and the left and right elevations of your home either in photos or scans of your blueprints, I could better help you when I make the video.

    Best,

    David

Did you try to open the skydrive link I posted a couple of replies ago? I put the PDF in there. Incase that didn't work, I'll go ahead and email it to you.

Thanks for taking the time to look it over, David.

    Tony,

I tried to upload the plan I used in the video tutorial but I do not have permission to do so, you will need to e mail me so I can e mail the edited file back to you, if you wish.

The video tutorial on my You Tube Channel is formatting and I will post a link to it when it is done formatting and uploading.
