Covered deck

I've got my house and deck and roof over the deck showing. A 3' deck railing is also shown. However, I need to show the posts that support the roof. They originate on top of the deck and go to under the roof. I go to wall spec, but I cannot edit the height of the newels (posts). Any help is appreciated.

click on the railing, open object, choose rail style tab, choose "Post to Overhead beam" or "Post to Ceiling"
