Trying to create glass shower walls in master bath, and when I do they're painted like the other walls. When I try to redefine it doesn't help. It's as though it treats it like all the other walls.

This is what happens when you color a room's walls using the material painter or material eye-dropper or perhaps via the room dialog box-Walls-materials tab without first having studied the Reference Manual on how those tools and settings work and how to use them as they were designed to work by way of practicing what you learned during study.

I am sorry if this seems cruel-spirited but I assure you it is merely factual and useful. Without a posted image or more exact information from you on exactly what you did, the above is all I can offer as help.

I understand that it all seems a little daunting and there are more than one "right"ways to arrive at what you want but part of the process is being able to choose one or more of the routes to a result that are programmed into the software. You do that by careful study, getting key nomenclature defined and understood as you study an wrap it all up with sufficient practice so your study time is not wasted by merely reading alone.

Find out how to use your software causitively and it will be a lot more fun to create with!
