Can't Extend 1st Floor Interior Wall When Adding 2nd Floor

Greetings,

I am planning a remodel of adding a 2nd floor over part of the 1st floor. I am having difficulty in keeping the interior wall correct when creating the 2nd floor. The two attached screenshots illustrate my problem:



I want to extend the first floor interior to match the pitch of the roof/ceiling line and eliminate the 2nd exterior wall that appears in the room.

This wouldn't appear to be an uncommon design feature but I cannot find anything in the forum.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just from the two posted images, does not give me enough understanding as to what is working or not working nor exactly what you want to do that you cannot. Can you elaborate additional information and images, perhaps a copy of your plan?

Here are some screenshots of the house before and after adding the second floor:


The outdoor camera position is the same between the original design and the 2nd floor addition.



In the interior shot, you can see in the one floor configuration the interior wall followed the pitched roof line (Ceilings is unchecked in the room properties). When the 2nd floor is added the upper section of the first floor interior wall is replaced by the 2nd floor exterior wall.

No, not really, it appears to me that your design is coming along just fine, so what exactly is the current problem, just the siding showing to the interior of the first floor or is it something else?

Only you know exactly what you intend to end up with, the rest of us will have to guess.

if the showing of exterior material showing to the interior on the first floor is a problem, then set the upper walls of the addition of pony-walls with the lower pony wall set to interior 4 walls and the upper half then set to exterior walls, then manually adjust the lower wall poly line to follow the roof lines. I am still guessing but that may help you.

Hi David,

Yes, I didn't want the exterior siding in the interior room and could not figure out how to eliminate it. The pony wall is the perfect solution. I've incorporated it and all is well. Thanks!
