Full basement and stem walls for garage

I have the house and attached garage that I'm designing pretty well done but when I put in the stairwell some thing was wrong and I figured out that the basement was only 48" or so deep. After I got that corrected to 108" deep basement it wanted to make the garage foundation 108" deep and when I corrected it to 48" it reverted the house basement back to 48". Any ideas?

Have you set 108" as the default ceiling height for Floor Zero in "Edit - Default Settings - Floor - Structure Tab - Ceiling Height"? This software unerringly follows and only can be counted to follow its "Default Settings" and if they are set differently than what you intend per floor then that is a fundamental error.

Yes, the foundation is now set to 108" and the basement is 108" but the garage foundation is also 108" where it should be about 48" and the is no foundation showing up where the garage joins the house.

Me thinks you need to delete the entire foundation and rebuild it.

Is the garage designated as a 'garage' in the room dbx? If not, do that first.
Then Build / Floor / Foundation. When the foundation defaults box pops up, set your wall height to what you want.
    Does that make a difference?

You will find information in your reference manual regarding 'Foundations / foundations and rooms'.

Can you delete just the foundation and then rebuild it or does everything have to start from scratch?

Open your plan. Go to the foundation level, then to Build>Floor>Delete Foundation and click Enter.

It seems that this is all I can come up with. The square area to the left is the garage and the outside garage walls should only be ~ 40" tall.

Is this what you are looking for?
Basically a lot of niggling around with the values
in the "Room Specification" dbxs. SWT (Stem
Wall Top), floor to SWT, Stem Wall height, etc.

Almost, The wall height in house and garage is correct but the top of the foundation and stem wall in garage need to be the same elevation.

BTW Thanks for all the posts!

JoAnn, that's correct. How do you get there with an existing main level floor plan?

make sure the garage room is specified as a Garage on the Room's General Tab and on the Structure tab check the box for Slab foundation under this room ( usually 6" thick in a garage around here) , and the rest of the house should be set in the Floor defaults to 108" and set the other sizes as needed eg 24 " wide footing not 16 " as per default per code in your Area, then build the foundation, you may need to delete the existing foundation and start again to get it to generate right. Deleting wont effect the rest of the floors.

Think you have Suite ,when I had V.8, it wouldn't show foundations in Elevation/cross sections incase you run into that issue too..

Thanks to all. I think I've got it, the key was "monolithic slab". By doing that I'm guessing that it didn't associate with the garage with the basement walls.
