Adding less than full-height walls

I am trying to add floor space under the existing extended roof line. when I add the walls they constantly go in full height and the roof tool adds a new hip. See pic. Is there a way to force short walls? Is there a way to force the roof outline.

Turn off"automatic rebuild roof"

Make your extended area a separate room either by adding a real or invisible interior wall.

Set the wall height for the extension room at the desired height.
