Importing Landscape Pictur

Hi! I have a question on how to do something that I just can't figure out how to do.

How can I import a picture of my front yard, then put plants from the plant library to see how they will look with my yard?

I have tried setting the picture as "picture" and as "backdrop", but I just can't get the picture to show the plants.
