Wink Trying to get foundation right

I have a home and a garage that are not connected, I got the foundation on the home o.k. but I can't get the garage to be a separate slab. I have Home Designer Deluxe, is this a possibility with this program? I've already opened the room spec. window and put it at 0 but now part of the walls seem to be below the foundation. The garage should be shorter than the house but it's not. I've tried changing the wall height but it won't let me. Any help would be appreciated, I'm bran new to this. Thanks

Try connecting the garage to the house with an invisible wall and see if that helps things work better. This software doesn't like "islands" -- most things need to be connected to each other somehow.

To change the wall height, change the ceiling height of the room.

Do you have the option of "slab foundation for this room" under the room DBX in Deluxe?

I've tried changing the ceiling and it just jumps back to what it was. I thought I had a slab option because it has a house with a garage in the demo and the garage is on a slab, that's what made me think I could do it.

Make sure you take out the D in the ceiling height box when typing in your values! If you don't. it will reset to the default value.

THAT'S what that {D} is for! Thanks that worked, still gotta cure the foundation. It seems to be higher than the house and yet the walls and door of the garage are under. S'pose the house has been "smoking"?hehe

    Here's what I mean-

    - first picture- make sure the circled D is gone when you input your height

-second picture- does Deluxe have this option anywhere in the room dialog boxes?

Looks like I was taking pictures while you were posting! That D trips up everyone.

Do you have any pictures of what is happening with your foundation?

No it doesn't :-( I can get both on a slab or a foundation but haven't figured out how to get one on each, or if it's possible.

I was able to raise the doors and that cured the underground problem. :-)

How did you raise the doors? I've been trying to do this, too. My garage doors are stuck halfway below ground!

    Thanks,
    Anthony

I just clicked on them and raised them up. I was using the camera view outside while doing it.
