Fireplace
Hi, I just recently purchased Home Designer Suite 7.0 and was looking through the fireplaces in the library browser. Are there any other libraries that might contain a center room fireplace? Such as what might be found in a lodge. Also the double sided fireplace doesn't look quite right when placeing n on a wall between rooms. I don't know how to place it so the fre is visible from both rooms.

Try these links. There are a lot of helps on the soft ware help.

You can also do a thread search on this forum. But before you know it, I bet the Design ladies will have you doing the tango with fireplaces!

As one of the "Design Ladies" and the Download Queen, you really, really, should look at the stuff we ladies have designed with just the tools that at our disposal.
Just type fireplace and you will find at least three or more posts with pics included.

That one will get you on the road in the right direction. And if you are not able to figure out what all the parts are that I used to make up THAT fireplace, I just might tell you.

Thank you both. Those are both great designs, just not quite what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a fireplace for the center of the room. freestanding where u can walk completely around and see the fire from all sides.

I did this in 3D Home Architect. I think you should be able to do it in Home Designer. I did it by making a small room within the room. This smaller room in the room is the fireplace. In the smaller room walls, I placed windows. Changed them to all glass with no casings. Set their height to start 18" above the floor and made them have an opening size of 48" tall. On the exterior of the fireplace I used the soffit to to create a raised hearth. You also need to use the soffit tool to put a floor in the fireplace. Use the soffit tool to make a mantel if you choose.
Hope this helps you.

You can use this for your fireplace; it does not matter where you place it. It does not have to be against an exterior wall, I have used this method numerous times for fireplaces in center of room. And you only need soffit for chimney if you download a really nice fire from Internet.Home Designer Pro 10

I added a little more detail with an insert. One of the (wonderfully talented) design ladies can do the "fire" in the fireplace, but I have not mastered that yet.

BTW-I created the fireplace with "all" soffits, and of course, added the insert.
Here it is without the wall.
