Delete the walls over the garage on the second floor.
Then build the roof.Redraw the walls and send the roof up 1 floor.
Add an auto dormer.
I get roof in front of the dormer this way..Allen Colburn Jr.

To follow up...
Do not add roof planes manually. Let the program figure out the roof planes for you.
