    Creating a new Wall Default

Is it possible to create a "new" Wall Default. I have tried to modify an exterior wall that is a "return" on the side of a front porch to have siding to match the house and brick on the other side of the same wall in the porch alcove.

When I make the change it changes all of the walls.

I am using HD Pro 7.08b

You probably don't need to make a "new" wall default. If I understand what you want to do, you have a wall that returns onto the porch.
Part of it is brick, and part siding. You need to use the wall break tool. On the tool bar>Wall Tools>then Break Wall.
You have to place a break point at each location where the wall type changes. Then using the Select Objects arrow, select each wall between the break points, select and open that wall, then the wall dbx, and then you can change the materials to what you want. You will also need to align the walls as the different materials will give you a different wall thickness. Assuming your wall would line up on the inside (no offsets). Hope the attached explains better.
    Hope this helps

You can tell by my join date on the forum, I haven't been at this long. Reason I suggested, is doing my home, I have the same thing on my porch. Brick comes around a corner on the garage projection, then stops at the edge of the porch, then goes to siding in the front door recess, then across the front to the far corner where it then goes back to brick around the rest of the home.

Try as I may I couldn't not generate it without breaking the wall, and changing the material types as I posted. However, without aligning the walls as I stated, the roof messed up. I figured out how to align them from the inside so the drywall did not have an offset, then when I did the roof it was okay. I was sure to lock in the roof plains. Completed the house didn't have any other problems. Maybe I got lucky on this one. Oh yes, I forgot, in camera view you could see through the brick and siding termination, and in the real world that would have to have a trim like "j" or something else, so I created them from soffits (believe it or not and trimmed the edge) did the trick.

No, I would like to have a wall that I could call something like Dual Exterior-6
on the drop down box. When I double click Wall Tools on the toolbar I get Wall Defaults. It shows Exterior and Interior wall tool. I would like to be able to click on Exterior and do an "insert new wall type". Like a 5 layer wall - Siding, plywood, studs, plywood, Brick.

Just to be used in special areas.

Currently, if I take the Exterior, Siding-6 and go to define, I can make the type of wall I want but it makes all exterior walls this new definition.

I don't think the program is capable letting me create my own type of wall strucure. What if I wanted to create an Interior wall with metal studs, but just for a certain room?

Thanks Allen, I didn't think that it was possible. It's not a tremendous issue, but it would be nice if HD Pro had the capability.

No BB, I want a specific type of wall for a porch alcove that has 2 different exterior layers. For example, brick on one side and siding on the other.

As Allen points out, it can't be done in HD Pro.

    Thanks anyway!
