Multiple overlaid line segments in DXF export files

I have Home Designer Suite 7.09 and I'm thoroughly unhappy with all the clutter in exported DXF files.

Once the DXF is imported into AutoCAD 2004 I've had to spend unnecessary hours cleaning up the multiple overlaid line segments. Very time consuming!

Why is this happening? It didn't happen in ART's 3D Home Architect 3.0.

I was seriously considering purchasing Chief Architect, but if this is what I have to put up with then I'd rather start looking at other products for my home designing needs.

Can you post a screen shot of it?
I am thinking it has to do with layers..
