Exclamation Installing Pro 7 Error - No Appropriate Hardware Lock Was Found

I've installed Pro 7 and am anxious to try it out but when I launch it, after I enter my serial number I get a message saying no appropriate hardware lock found and to attach one if I don't have one. I don't even have a clue what that is so how do I know if I have one. I've never heard of this so I'm clueless.

I followed the directions I found on this website for this error concerning downloading and installing the HASP device drivers. I did that, rebooted and it still does the same thing. Although now HASP device drivers are showing up in my add/remove programs, where before they weren't there at all.

    Now what? Anyone know?

    Thanks,
    Linda

You should have got a hardware lock with your version of pro (see photo). This needs to be plugged into your computer in an open usb drive. If you did not get a lock, or it's plugged in and still doesn't work, call support.

I have two USB ports on the front of my computer. I've found that the HASP will only work in one specific port. I've never tracked down why, I just know which one works. If you can't get it to work, call support. If you find out why, please post a reply.

If you have the hardware lock shown in Kilgore Trout's post follow the instructions on this link.

Well, I know this is dumb but I didn't see the hardware lock thing and I didn't know that such a thing existed. I missed this if it is in the installation instructions. Thanks, I got it to work now!

It is very small...too small for me. Nice for the computer scene but not so nice when my wife hands it to me after finding it in a gravel driveway. I transport mine regularly and had it in my pants pocket.

Hey! There is a suggestion...put a hole in the thing so we can put a chain or string through it. I wear the memory keys at work, around my neck, referee style. They go home less and don't get forgotten.

Sorry. There is no hole in my dongle (computer one). I have a later IBM box (with much less power though) with a deeep USB front panel and I can barely get my fingers onto the thing to get it out. Any butter and it's a hopeless cause.

Addendum: I just looked at KT's picture again and mine is like that without the extension on the back with the hole.
