In Pro I found no corner fireplaces in the library that are the modern wall style flat types. (not woodstove style)

However, I found several mantels under millwork (I think) and I placed a grill inside it so it looks just like the latest ones on the market.

BTW: It would be a great idea to edit your signature lines and tell us what version product you have. It can make a difference to the help you get. Each one has different capabilities and ways to do things to get around the lack of capabilities.
Another user, here, pasted a photo from the manufacturers website inside a mantel. The photo is only 2D but there is only one view you can get in 3D of a fireplace fire anyway. (cheat...cheat and cheat some more)

    Carolyn,

I'm a newbie myself (been using HD 7 for about a week). I created this corner cabinet type fireplace using soffits of diferent widths, heights and thicknesses, a mantel and a flush fireplace. Read through the posts regarding the use of soffits, they are very usefull. I am a contractor by trade, so I have it set in my mind how I am used to "building" certian things. Someone mentioned in one of thier post that when using this program you have to "think outside the box". That is an understatement! Use your imagination and you will be suprised what you can do with this program.

Everything I have learned to do so far came from this forum, so take a bit of time, read through the posts and have fun!

Thanks Carolyn and Mainer. Carolyn, I "blew up" the fireplace so that you could get an idea of the components. With the exception of the mantle and fireplace insert, every other piece is a soffit either with a wood or marble finish applied to it.

Some of the soffits (hearth and cabinet top) "lap" over each other to form miters. You will find that you have to build these type pieces at diffrent heights then "drop" them down to thier finished height off the floor.

Hope this makes what I was explaining a bit easier to understand.

Hah! That picture reminds me of my traumatic "UFO" incident a few months ago (http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware...ighlight=UFOs).

That's a beautiful, creative fireplace, Joe -- nice work!

What is an .alb file? I am guessing that it is some kind of file to combine all the parts into one symbol? That would be really nice if something like that was do-able.

    Dee,

Thanks for the compliment. Actually you can take a good part of the credit for that fireplace...

    Joe,

.alb file extensions are used by Chief Architect programs as well as other programs. But, all .alb's are not equal as there are a variety of programs that utilize the .alb extension. That being said, the extension identifies what program to associate the file with and how to properly open the file.

The .alb files are used in the Libraries of CA programs.

    Hi Joe
With Chief,I could make your fireplace into a symbol to save to my library. It could then be shared with people that have Chief or Home Pro 7..
It will not do you any good unless you have Pro 7..
Unless Sam(symbol maker) nows how to get it to work..
