    Awnings

I have Home Designer Suite 7.09.

I didn't find any awnings in my Library Browser. Does anyone know how to add awnings to home windows?

    Thanks a bunch.

Nope. Maybe they left them out of the program for aesthetic reasons?

If you place a window in a wall can you open and select that from the drop down?

    Becky,

Kilgore has the correct answer to your question. There are no awnings that can be added to a window.

Allen is also correct. There are windows that are similar to casement windows known as "awning windows".

    Hi Kilgore & Allen,

Thanks for replying. Maybe I can find something in my Material Browser that I can transform into a shape that looks like a window awning.

    Have a good night.

If anyone's interested, I found what's listed as a Wall Hood (medium), in the Library Browser, that can be sized into a shape that sort of looks like an awning.

    Allen,

I didn't know there was a window called an "awning window". I learned something new. Thanks for the info.

There is a "canopy" for a window in the following thread over at Chieftalk. It is on page two and post #16.

    Hi Deirdre,

Thanks for the Chieftalk link. I registered with Chieftalk but was unable to open the link. A message said I "do not have permission to access this page". I don't have Chief Architect, I have Home Designer Suite 7.09. Is the canopy file you were refering to, a file I can copy & paste into my HD Material Browser?

Becky, if you click on the link in this thread that Dee posted for you, doesn't that post link open showing the canopy? It did for me. If so, all you have to do is down load and unzip the file that is included with the reply. I am not sure if the symbol Alen Cheng created will work with your version? But give it a try!
