Larry--My builder's son (in his 20's) told me that I should go with 12' doors because "OLD PEOPLE" need that extra room.

Figure out how tall you are and then measure your arm span, (to make sure you are from the human species). They should match. Now you have an Inspector Gadget measuring tape. Sneak up to a few houses with the really big garage doors and do a quick measure. I doubt you will find **ANY** that are that large unless they drive a service vehicle with a trailer on the back.

Next, sneak up to the builder's bedroom window and watch to see what F*#k*ng drugs he is taking.

The cost, the cost, and special openers with extra reinfocements and reinforcing angle irons for the sagging long doors that look like crap and the special trim adaptions for extra expansion (assuming vinyl).

Note: If you need to turn your car around in your garage, or enter with your vehicle doors open, please disregard the above.

The builder's son was being funny and picking on me (I guess because he likes me). In this area most guys (Cowboy town) have huge trucks and need a 10' wide garage door or larger. We have a mini van and an SUV and it is really difficult to get both vehicles in and still have room to get around them. As I have said before--we have a 16' wide x 8' tall garage door right now.
    Thanks,

The door size has nothing to do with the room in the garage, only how expensive the springs on the opener and the door motors will be.

I would sleep with him and get him to do all the design work.
