Want cabinet snap to counter edge, not near wall
I want a wall cabinet to snap to the counter edge, not to wall 2" away from counter edge.
I have messed with all the snaps settings I can find.
Even the control key does not help.

Mike, I am not sure, haven't tried it, but what about placing an invisible wall where you want the back of the wall cabinet to be? Then place it against that and see what happens, BTW, will the back be exposed? If so you can use a soffit of course to skin the back (make it match the rest of the cab't) JAI

Ooops, sorry I was not clear... cabinet side, not back.
I can NOT get the cabinet closer than the attached pic without it snaping to the wall. If I use 7 1/2", it will snap to the wall.

P.S. This is not a real design, just trying to learn about snap.Home Designer Pro 8.0 (since 04/28/08)

Are you saying that you DO NOT want it to snap to the wall? And that you do want a 2" gap between cabinet and wall?

Mike, I drew outside walls, then defined a space (didn't give it room name so that might make a diff) then added the cabinets (base and wall) as I wanted them, then added the wall. I Highlighted the cabinets so you could see define between wall and cabinet. Then selected that wall and changed the color so you could see the space between the cabinets and wall. Now, if I tried to move the wall toward the cabinet then it snaps, so if you intend to build it that way (not sure why you would) the closest I could get it was about 3"

Since we are "playing", what happens when you go into vector view and "slide" the cabinet back away from the wall. Does it still try to snap?
The one option that I can think of without adding a "filler" would be to reduce the cabinet size and then slide it away from the wall.Home Designer Pro 10

The software probably "knows" that you won't want a dust slot that a broom won't fit into.
Dee's suggestion sounds like it will work.BH&G Pro Rev. 7.08

Darn your hide; here we were all set for an all day event and you gave away the answer. But, I will admit that even I would have never thought of that.

I think he's talking about the CTRL drag operation.
Yes, it doesn't work...
