Compatibility with X1
I just upgraded to 8.0 to restore compatibility with my designer who uses X1. When I tried to open a .plan file he sent me, I was greeted with an error message saying that the plan was not editable, but I could view it. On the comparison matrix on the Home Designer website, it indicates that 8.0 can edit X1 files. (Fully Editable). Does anyone know what my trouble might be?

Could you at least give us a clue as to which program you are using? If you are using Pro 8 then the answer I would think would be yes you can edit them; but as for the lessor versions of BHG I think that command is limited to viewing only.

The person with X1 needs to set the plan so you can read and edit things..
Tell your designer
Plan defaults
Allow editing
Close ans save it with a layer that has things they want you to be able to edit unlocked.Allen Colburn Jr.

Sorry for the confusion - I am using Home Designer Pro 8.0. And the answer was that the guy with X1 needed to adjust his plan defaults to allow editing as was indicated by Allen42ACJ. Thanks everyone.
