Software crashing

When the software locks the XP system to where it needs to have the plug pulled you are seeing a problem at a hardware level. Software crashes will take the program down but XP recovers from that. Hardware crashes like this can usually be explained by video card issues. Most likely a video card driver but sometimes it can be other hardware.

If the crash happens in a 3d render view then the problem is most definitly related to video card problems. Most crashes like this can be fixed with an updated video driver.
