I'm brand new, so please be patient. My FAQ came up empty. Is the invisible wall the appropriate way to show an open porch that either extends from the home or is an alclove indented into the home, where actual walls don't exist (back wall in the case of the indented)? In both cases to be under the main roof.

And will designating them Porch automatically set the floor elevation appropriately below the finish interior floor.

Also, same question for an open carport, exterior walls two sides, none on the other two.

To achieve the "no railing" look (open on three sides), than you are correct to select "invisible".

To achieve a carport (roof with two walls) you would be better off inserting a door way, resized, to obtain the support beams. But, yes, you can also use the "invisible" wall option.


BTW - welcome to the forum and please add a signature line with your version and product; there are various solutions for each of the product lines and in order to receive the appropriate response from the forum members, it helps to have an product and version identifier in the signature block.

If the porch and/or carport do not automatically generate at the relative elevation you want, open the room dialog box by double clicking in the carport or porch. You can set the floor height from the General tab and can use negative numbers if needed.
