foyer size
I am working on a floorplan for a new build. My foyer is 13'2" W x 14'8" D. (10ft. ceilings) Is that enough space for a staircase? I am able to put in a curved staircase and it "looks" like it fits, but I'm not an architect. I've also tried a staircase that goes straight along the left wall and then turns 90 degrees to the right. In both cases, the staircase will go above the opening to the living room. I worried that it won't be tall enough to comfortably walk under. I'm also curious if I could put a 1/2 bath under the staircase.
I would attach a pic of my plan, but I am unsure how to do that.
Let me know if you need more info, or if you have any suggestions. Thanks for your help!Home Designer Suite 7.0

Hi Momto
Should be room.
Make the treads 10" and lock them.
Add or subtract steps till your close to 7 3/4" rise..
Hope that helps..Allen Colburn Jr.

Ten foot ceilings equals 12 ft stairs.
Your room is insufficient to support a straight stair, but you can achieve the "L" shape with ease.
The 13 x 10 ft room would not provide you the necessary floor space between a wall and the first step. Generally you want three feet between wall and step.Home Designer Pro 10
