I want a window in place of a backsplash. How do I get it to not block the window?

In the kitchen, I put a window under a wall cabinet. The window is blocked by the wall cabinet backsplash. Even changing the backsplash material to "opening (no material)" did not work. It still puts a sheet of white in front of the window -essentially blocking the window. Glass didn't work either.

    Interesting...

If I raise the backsplash height from the base cabinet, the window "cuts through" just fine.

But if I use "backsplash to base below" in the wall cabinet dbx, it blocks the window.

If I then use "opening (no material)" it opens up the backsplash (only for that one cabinet, however).

Something for the Suggestions topic maybe?

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

It worked! I tried what Doug said and it looks like that did it! Wow. What a relief. Attached is a pic.
