"O" Block buildings and court-yard roofs

Greetings to everyone. I'm new to HDS-8, and bought it to work out a floor plan for a two-story building that is an "O"-Block (aka hollow square) design. The center of the square is supposed to be a garden/ courtyard arrangement. However, I can't seem to figure out how to not have the roof of the second floor cover the central courtyard.

Does anyone have a "recipe" about how to achieve this?

Open the Room Specification for the courtyard area, go to the structure tab and uncheck Roof Over This room. If you have Auto Rebuild Roofs unchecked, then you will need to go through and rebuild the roof using the Build Roof dialog.

Also, if the interior is totally enclosed you need to connect it to another wall since the program doesn't know how to handle "island" rooms. Check out this online Help Database article on what I am referring to http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/...?faqNumber=144
