creating winders in Home Designer Suite 8

I have Home Designer Suite 8 (not Pro) and am trying to create a staircase with one straight tread at the bottom, 3 winders and a straight section. I have read the online tutorial but that only applies to the Pro, so I don't have a midpoint in snap settings, nor do I have the winders button in Open Project.
Anybody have any ideas?

I've tried playing around with this by trying to create them using invisible walls to define rooms or using the geo shapes out of the library, but it doesn't come out well and then you don't have the railing. I think the real answer is that probably to be able to do this well, is to upgrade to Pro.
