Exclamation Importing of .skp files not working

    Hi there again folks,

I went to the Google 3D Library thing and downloaded some garage doors, windows, and entry doors to utilize in some of my plans. All the files are .skp format. I saved them in the "Initial User Library" of BH&G HDS 8.0, but when I go into the program and go to File, Import, 3D Symbol Data, .SKP, or all 3D Symbol Files; nothing shows. Did I miss a step? Was there something else I was suppose to do before importing or saving to one the library folders?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks again

    John

You don't save .skp files in the program directory, you can just create a folder in your My Documents or on your Desktop for outside 3D symbols and browse to that when you go through importing.

Also make sure to stay away from SketchUp version 7 files for now and stick with 5 and 6.

RE: Importing of .skp files not working

    Hey Kat,

I tried what you suggested. Moved the .skp files to my documents and then used HDS8 to browse to that folder and it won't show them. They are .skp v6 files from what the authors info says when you click the link to d/l them.

Try just dragging the file on to the Home designer screen.

Ok I went to the post you gave me Kat and D/l the DLL Zip files as Pinto did, but I have no clue as to where to put these 2 DLL files. Window? HDS8? what folder there are to many to guess as to where it should go. There are 2 versions of the ALT71.DLL file, as Ansi version and a Unicode Version. Which do I use? This is getting more confusing by the second. But I appreciate the assistance Kat and everyone else.

It's all in the quotes, you need to add it to the System 32 folder in Windows.

Hope this helps with your issue!
