    Manual roof tool Pro 6.04

I've finally gotten brave enough to start the roof but I can't figure out how to close the holes in the valleys. Also, when I do manual roof plane, and check the roof section I'm working on, it won't let me select a pitch in any thing but degrees and minutes.
BTW- the pitch of the main roof is only supposed to be 12 / 12, and the area that will be over the garage 16 / 12 so that means the rear of the roof on the 12 /12 side would need to run up hill and connect at the apex of the 16/12 in the real world.

    Hi Bob
    Check the number style tab..

Watch the tutorial on "Laser tool".That will explain why you are getting temporary points and what they are for.

There is all so a "Join roofs tool"

    See how far you get...
    Good roof to start on..

Thanks Allen. I saw the number style tab but couldn't fig out how to use it.
Laser? Hum. The temp x don't bother me. I used the join roof plane tools. Believe me, I've studied the (lacking) tutorials on building roofs with the manual roof tool, I've practiced and practiced on simple roof's and made it work OK, but this roof is a little more complicated than that.

I have been searching the tutorials, I see what I can find on the laser thing and see if that helps. Of course, I don't give up easy, so I'll keep playing with it. I've saved several versions of the plan, and when I get something looking like what I think it should I save it immediately in all the files just in case.

    Hi Bob
Did you get the numbers fixed?
I just opened your plan in X1 and saw what you were talking about..
Try opening a roof plane and unchecking the box for degrees..

I wasn't concerened with the pitch..

I had already unchecked the numbers and was not working with degrees . That's frustrating, as I am use to working with roof pitch:mad: . I kept experimenting changing the numbers back and forth, and used the laser tool to connect the dots, but it isn't exactly what he wants . He showed me a photo of a home with the roof line similar to what they want and I am closer than I was .

The pitch on the front perpendicular roof from the main house is taller than the main. Looks like 16/12 vs 12/12. So the roof of the main when it connects with the perp roof apex is a back slope. There is a bonus room under the perp roof so I know based on the width of the room below he needs more pitch to get at least a 9' ceiling there. When I try to give it more pitch I get the crazy holes in the roof. I did get something better see below. What I got, and what I need. I think I will let it rest for now and study the tutorials on building the returns. If I ever get the roof right, I'll start back on the inside and put the rest of it together.

I didn't tell you how I made the roof connect. I opened each roof plain-left clicked on the break tool, placed a break near the point on the valley, of each roof plain connection, moved that point to connect with the ridge (apex) of the perpendicular roof. And I did a couple of cross sections to show what I need and don't need / want.

Allen, do you love teasing people I know you had to change the pitch, and every time I do, I still get these holes. Then if I change the pitch on main roof it looks like a rocket about to take off I know U'r a man of a few words, but how in the @@@@### did U do that? That's exactly what the photo looks like I can't get the shed over the screened porch to do that either:mad:   The roof dbx numbers appear to me to be the only way to change the pitch, but I'll be doing that all day long before I get there

    This might help..
Uncheck roof in some rooms and build it auto..
Set up walls the way you want..
Then finish the shed roofs manually..

Allen-Yes But setting the correct values: is a problem.

So, trying un-check roof in some rooms: : I tried that one time before and it went crazy. I didn't bother to post that pick (didn't save it either). I will try again on one of the other saved files.

I did try to build it using degrees, but still cannot get the ridges to join properly.

I can't seem to turn it loose, but boy am I getting tired of it
