creating identical floors
I have one floor, I want to create an identical second and third floor.
When I choose 'build floor from plan' I only get the exterior walls and some of the interior walls on the new floor. Is there any way to build a new floor that copies everything from the previous floor? I'm using Home Designer Pro 7.
Thanks!
Chris

Edit Area Tools
Cris,
Yes, you can Chris you are using HD Pro 7. Go to Home Designer Pro 7.0 Help and enter "copying" in the search field.

First, build a blank floor 2 without any walls. Then, you can use the "edit area" tool to copy everything from floor 1 to floor 2. Be sure that you don't use the "all floors" option and use the "hold position" option to make align the second floor with the first. Slicker then snot.
I'm kind of surprized that he didn't know about this. I would assume that Chief would work the same since this is in Pro.

KT,
I tried it before I posted the thumbnail. I'll agree with ya. Slicker than snot.
If Pro 7 is watered down Chief, then Chief must have this function. Maybe Allen can try it in Chief and let us know.

Agreed, this would be a great addition to the software. I would not rank this very high on our list of priorities becasue there are already two ways to accomplish this task.
In X1 you can use the edit area method, or simply highlight the walls and copy them and use the paste hold position functionality. This allows you more fine control than in previous versions and is a better general solution because of the amount of control.
Both of these solutions offer more benefit than simply copying the interior walls since they allow copying of other items as needed.Dan Park

Hey Chris,
Glad you got it done.
Would you please go to the UserCP (User Control Panel) and click on Edit Signature under Setting & Options. In the Edit Signature window enter the Product Name and Version of the BH&G software you are using.
It will be a lot of help for all of us in the future.
Thanks
