Need a hole in the roof

Greetings! Long time reader...first time writer. I have created a dormer in a 12x12 roof pitch. The wife suggested that we put in a door instead of a window. All is well including the deck railing, but I cannot figure out how to remove the roof, cutting off the door and going through the decking. Room definition accepted deck too.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm using Pro 7.0.

    Hi TomKat72,

Welcome to the forum. First timers are always welcome.

This is a great link for dormers. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/...?faqNumber=236

If you follow the step by step information you should be able to accomplish what you want to do.

I see you are using Pro 7. Will you please go to the UserCP (User Control Panel) and click on Edit Signature under Setting & Options. In the Edit Signature window enter the Product Name and Version of the BH&G software you are using.

Thanks, but can't find anything there that helps.

    TomKat,

Can you post your floor plan and a bigger view of the dormer?

Is this what you are trying to do?

I think you should re-read the links instructions.

    Close, but no cigar

What you have done does not follow my floorplan. I have pulled the gabled wall of the dormer back into the room. The linked info does not address this.

    Tomkat,

Had you posted your floorplan as I asked in post #4 I would have been able to follow your floorplan.

Maybe the linked info doesn't address the issue directly, but it should give you an idea as to how to make dormers from scratch as well as how to cut and move walls.

    Whatever

    1. I did post a link to the floorplan and a rendering of the dormer if you had bothered to look.

    2. It is quite obvious that you enjoy showing off, but have no intention of actually helping someone.

    Sorry I asked.

    Tomkat,

The only link I see is the dormer.bmp. There is only 1 image in the attachment even though it says 8 views. I did "bother" to look otherwise I wouldn't have had a clue as to what you are trying to do. A little cooperation would be nice. I'm not trying to "show off". My only intent was to help you. Sorry if you see it differently.

The reason your dormer.bmp only had 1 image is because the .bmp attachment can not be any larger than 100K.
JPEGS are 200K even though it says 100K.

You need to read the Sticky thread "How to Attach Pictures to HomeTalk Posts" This is the 2nd thread in the Q&A Forum. http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware...read.php?t=376

Tom, I only saw one .bmp pic also. Something went wrong in the attachments.

Don't mind Daydreamer. He is a little overzealous when it comes to helping people, sometimes. I know he sits 24/7 drooling waiting for some unsuspecting lost soul comng in for a bit of help. Then he sinks his teeth into your plan and sucks the blood out of it until he has it cloned and you learn something. He won't sleep until he has it worked out!!

I think he is coming over to man-handle your mouse soon. Right over your shoulder. Duct tape yourself to the chair so he can't get into it!!!
***NEVER POST YOUR ADDRESS HERE!!! ****

ROFLMAO. Humour him..he will probably get it worked out for you. I know by the time you ask for help you are frustrated all to he*l with the problem. It will come and DD will go above and beyond most others to help you.

After that, then you can kick him and run!

BTW: never feed him after midnite!!

    TK,

Thanks for the PM apology and the link.

I sorta thought that's what you were trying to do. Make the deck width the same width as the dormer walls and connect the deck railing to the dormer walls.
