Wall niche with Recessed Shelves
Hello all, hope your Christmas was as wonderful as mine!
But back to the move the wall around game...(what else am I supposed to do, play with the wii all day?)
Anyway I am hoping someone can tell me how to make an in wall recessed shelf, such as in a shower. I tried changing the wall to only 1" but it keeps snapping to center which does not show what I need.
Anyone try this before?Jodi

What about making the actual wall "invisible" (to define the "area") and use soffits to make the wall. Make two large soffits the size of the wall (if possible) with a thickness of 1/4" to be used as a back walls inside and outside. Make other soffits 4" thick and place in front of the 1/2" rear wall in all of the places except the recess. This would make a 4-1/2" wall thickness which is typical of interior walls.

I used a doorway with the casing set to 0,not suppressed.
Then added 2 slabs.
One flush with the outside with that material and one inside for the material you want.
Might need to try a few things..
