    gable roof overflowing gable roof

    Hi Folks:
First, thanks very much for everyone's help. My plans are rapidly progressing thanks to much help and suggtestions by everyone. The first pic (ouside) shows a simple ranch house with a gable roof with an addition (the room over the garage door) which I labled the "living room" that has a gable roof that overlaps the gable roof on the main house. When I do an inside view from the living room looking toward the front of the main part of the house, I see the roof of the main house extends into the living room. See the pic labled "inside." I don't know how to shorten the length of that roof or prevent it from showing.

The pic named "floorplan" shows the roof over the living room and the roof over the main house join up at the same roof plane, but I don't know how to prevent the soffit area of the main roof from showing in the living room. Hope I explained this coherently ?

Try <cntrl> R and check all the roof and wall options for rebuild. This looks like a confused roof plan that neds to refresh.

Something that has bugged or confused me.

Many people use the term "gable roof", whereas a "gable" is the end wall of a roof, a wall and not a roof at all.

    Hi ralph,

What do you have the ceiling height set at for each room?

Do you have Ceiling Over checked in either of those rooms?

Did you produce any Manual ceiling planes?

You have a ceiling plane shown in your Plan picture #3 in your post.

That's what is causing the gutter and fascia to be shown in your render.

Thanks very much for the help folks. Rick, it was the roof plane like you had pointed out. I didn't have the correct idea as to what the roof planes indicate. Once I redraw the roof plane that you had indicated to mirror the triangular roof plane of the addition, it all lined up. Thanks for your tips on the hot-keys Larry and the actual meaning of gable too.

Just another day at the ole' sweat farm...

Glad to hear some success, once in awhile. I hate trudging through the snow banks, even across the great Atlantic creek just to help somebody out but, if it has to be done...?
