Yes. You should be able to read any plan created in AHD into Home Designer Pro 8 and continue working with it.

Probably not. Once you are satisfied with your transition to Home Designer Pro 8, you can uninstall AHD. Please be aware that the uninstall process can be slow but it will almost always finish if you just let it keep going.
