Kitchen Counter Eating area
I am currently using Home Designer 6.04. Right now I am trying to design a kitchen. I would like to have a part of the countertop extend out to form an eating area. I need it to be open underneath so that I can slide 3 or 4 stools under the counter. Can someone suggest a way that I can do this?
Thanks

place cabinets where you need the extra counter. In the 3d preview mode, click on the cabinet and drag the lower handle up until you only see the counter top. repeat as needed

You can also use the "shelf" cabinet tool

suppose you want to build an island with 10 inch overhang on front and back of the island. Let's do the following ( assuming the island is 3 cabinets wide)
1. in plan view place 3 cabinets side by side (let's call this central row)
2. in plan view place another 3 cabinets north of central row and 3 cabinets south of central row ( lat's call these north row and south row)
3. size all cabinets in south and north rows to have a depth of 10 inches. do that by double clicking each cabinet and change the numbers in th dbx
4. click the camera tool and point and drag toward the cabinets to see a view of the cabinets. rotate an manipulate the view to see the cabinets the north or south row.
5.click on cabinet in south row or north row and drag the lower handle to the top as far as it can go . do same to all others

Yes you can do that with the shelf tool if you only need straight edges on the side on the counter.
Lee
1. to use the shelf tool place the caninets as desired.
2. open the dbx for the cabinet and set the counter to thickness to 0
3. place a shelf for tha cabinet shelf toolbar
4. open the dbx of the shelf and set debth to 1.5 inches or as desired
5. in the dbx change the height above floor to 36 inches.
6. in plan view select shelf and manipulate dimensions as desired.
7. paint shelf using library or other tools as appropriate

Thanks people,
both solutions worked really well, I ended up using the shelf option
