delete part of the roof

Can someone help me delete a portion of a roof? I have an attic space with a dormer (see attached) and I need to delete the portion of the roof that is in front of the door. The goal is to be able to walk out of the door without needing to step over the roof. I thought I had it figured out before, but now I can't figure it out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how to do that yet, but you got my curiosity going. I've never seen or heard of such a construct.

What would it be used for other than letting your mother-in-law try to fly after you feed her those wonky mushrooms in her spaghetti?
