Stair Winder

I am trying to create stair winders but I cannot get it to work correctly.
I looked up the Help Article http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/...?faqNumber=486 but I don't have the options that they say to use. At step 4, it says to move your mouse cursor over to locate the first stair's Midpoint snap, which appears as a red triangle. But that does not occur for me. I have the midpoint snap turned on, but it never shows up.
Is there some setting that needs to be turned on so I can see the CAD tools?
I am using Home Designer Pro 7.

I recall seeing a prior thread that you need to make sure you have Edit Object Parts turned OFF for creating stair winders to work.
