Color in rendering
I am using Home Designer Pro 9 to design an update for our kitchen. When I use the full camera mode to look at the design in 3D the colors on the island cabinets are always much darker than the sample selected. I've tried adding lighting but this does not change the issue. Even if I use white as the color of the cabinets they render as grey not white. Any suggestions?

The short answer is that this is probably all about lighting.
How much light that shines directly on a surface has a big affect on how bright the material looks. If you have a kitchen with just can lights in the ceiling, you are probably not getting much light hitting the sides of the cabinets. Adding more can lights will not necessarily make the room brighter because your lights are probably set to shine down and automatically lower the intensity when you add more.
There are a variety of ways you can brighten the room. You can use the Add Lights tool to add a point light to the center of your room (and manually adjust the intensity to make it brighter). You can adjust the ambient light which will make everything in the room brighter. You can adjust the material properties of the materials that you think are too dark.
