Adding a front covered porch with gable

    Good evening all

I just bought Home Designer Pro 2014, and absolutely love it. It is amazing. So yes, I am a rookie user.

I want to add a front covered porch to the front of my home design. But seem to be a bit stumped.
It would have posts and a gable roof. It is similar to this plan.

I think I faked it with an unspecified room, but it shows walls of course. It gives me the roof I want, but creates slab/footing problems. Should I have kept it as a porch?

What method should I be using?

    Thank you for your help

Some of these articles may help you: http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/...put=xml_no_dtd

The roofs in the posted image will have to be a combination of auto-generated roofs and then finished up manually (see this tutorial for a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb3SX0V_Do4&feature=plcp )

Some things the software does merely by settings and set up, other things you do manually controlling its tools.

Thank you David. I will check into it

Sounds like the best theory is just create the roofline for porches/covered porches and not worry about a room grouping and specs. Then add the slab or footing later.
